The Little Prince: 3 Takeaways of a Fascinating Fairy Tale

A surrealistic drawing of a whale and stars.

“You cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”

William Faulkner

In the whole of 2021, unlike any other year of my life, I read only one short novel: Le Petit Prince by French Author and Pilot Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Despite its simplicity, I have to admit that I couldn’t fully grasp and transfer the wisdom of the little blond boy to my own life.

Nevertheless, having caught my full attention throughout the year, I dedicated a piano piece to the mysterious life of The Little Prince: It’s about looking at the world through the most humbled glasses. It’s about the dreamful child within us.

Listen to my neoclassical book composition and read the 3 key takeaways of a timeless story here.

  1. One Sees Only With The Heart

No one is ever satisfied where he is. However, if a rose perfumes your planet and lights up your life, then don’t turn it away.

In fact, love is about adding something positive but also challenging to someone’s life.

It’s not a rational choice, but an emotional one.

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly;
what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

2. A True Friend is your real home

We all are lonely. We all somehow “fell from the sky” and are lost in the desert in search of meaning. In search of a home.

A true friend helps to steer toward what is important in life. A true friend helps to fulfill our individual quests.
If we contemplate our short existence, soon we will notice that our personal stories are not that different from one another, no matter what background, skin color, and sexual orientation. A true friend is your real home.

“It doesn’t matter that you are not here in person. As long as you are in my heart.”

― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

3. We Are Born Free, Yet Everywhere In Chains

We all start with nothing but naked. Free from desires. Free from chains. Sometimes, the little prince talks to me and warns me about the many traps out there. He tells me to keep honing my craft and remembers me:

“He who seeks power will find emptiness. She who seeks admiration will find loneliness.”

― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

If you haven’t yet, I encourage you to watch my first music video; a symbol of breaking the chains and starting my personal artistic journey.

If the work stirss up your emotions, please leave a like + comment, it really helps 😊
